✨ How to Use
🍛 Tadka/Tempering: Fry whole seeds in hot oil until they pop — pour over dhal or rice.
🌮 Tacos & Mexican: Toast and grind for taco seasoning, chilli con carne.
🍲 Soups: Add to lentil soup, butternut soup, or hummus.
🍞 Bread: Sprinkle on naan or fold into flatbread dough.
🥗 Salads: Toast and scatter over roasted vegetable salads.
🍛 Recipe: Simple Cumin Dhal
- 1 cup red lentils + 3 cups water
- 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds
- 1 tsp Turmeric + 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tbsp butter or ghee + salt
Method: Simmer lentils with turmeric until soft (20 mins). In a small pan, fry cumin seeds in butter until popping. Pour sizzling cumin butter over dhal. Stir. Serve with rice. Soul food. 😌
🌮 Recipe: Homemade Taco Seasoning
- 2 tbsp Cumin Seeds (toasted & ground)
- 1 tbsp Smoked Paprika
- 1 tsp Cayenne + 1 tsp Garlic + 1 tsp Onion Powder
Method: Mix all together. Store in a jar. Use 2 tbsp per 500g mince. Better than any packet!
